Breathing

It is difficult to control your breathing in the heat of competition or battle.
Start learning breath control by shooting in the same part of the breathing cycle during accuracy practice. The generally accepted point in the breathing cycle where the shooter should fire is in the natural pause between breaths. Novice shooters should try to fire in the pause between exhale and inhale.
After you have accustomed yourself to firing in a consistent spot in the breathing cycle, advance to shooting under stress. You can simulate the stress response by doing calisthenics, push ups, jumping jacks, etc, before firing. Some ranges frown upon running on the range, so check with the range staff before doing any sprints.
Competitions are also a great place to start conditioning yourself to shoot under stress.
The more comfortable you are with shooting while winded, the better you will perform during competition or live fire engagement.
